Our research aims to understand the link between overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system and cardiovascular disease. Projects range from investigating the various signals the brain receives that chronically regulate sympathetic activity, to understanding how organ specific sympathetic activity contributes to cardiovascular disease. Although most of our work focuses on the neurogenic basis of high blood pressure (hypertension), we have more recently begun to study the complex relationship between metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
